FORT WORTH, Texas - Mary Jane Hummel Hughes of Fort worth, texas, a former resident of Newton, died Saturday, March 6, at her home in Fort Worth.

Cremation followed death.

Funeral services wil be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton and burial will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Newton.

Thompson, Haverson and Cole Funeral Home in Fort Worth is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton will be accepted.

Surviors are her husband, Elias Jack Hughes; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Tisha of Paris, Texas, and Charles and Chris of Tacoma, Wash.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Judy Gray of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Cliff Hummel of Fort Worth, Texas, and Don Hummel of Newton; four cousins; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Josephine Hummel, in 1972 and her father, Hoyes Hummel in 1976.

Mrs. Hughes and her husband, who was a career serviceman, had resided in many areas including Germany, Alaska, on West Coast and East Coast, Newton and Fort Worth. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 15 Mar 1993.
