SULLY - Lester Van Wyk, 76, of Sullly, died Saturday, March 13, at the Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Sully Christian Reformed Church.

The Rev. Lawrence Howerzyl will conduct services. Burial will be in Sully Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sully Garden Chapel Funeral Home today and visitation wit the family will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at teh funeral home.

Memorials to the Sully Christian Endowment Fund will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Anna Paulena; three sons and daughters-in-laws, Eldon and Sharon of Grinnell, Wesley and Carol of Sully and Darwin and Teresa of Grinnell; two daughters and sons-in law, Marlis and Rick Backus of Newton and Marlene and Mike Van Soelen of Sully; and 14 grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters, Louis Van Wyk of Pella, Triny Jansen of Sully, Henrietta Beyer of Pella, Ann Van Weelden of Sully and Elmer Van Wyk of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Will D., Ray and Clarence, and two sisters, Emma Jochems and one in infancy.

Mr. Van Wyk, a former farmer, was a member of the Sully Christain Reformed Church and attended Sunday evening Bible studya.

The son of Dick and Anna Hoksbergen, Van Wyk, he was born Oct. 17, 1916 in Sully and attended Sully Christian School.

He was married to Anna Paulena Van Zante Feb. 17, 1944 at the home of her parents north of Sully.

Following their marriage the couple resided southwest of Sully for six years and then farmed north of Lynnville for 31 years prior to moving to Sully in 1981. ~ The Newton Daily, Newton, Iowa, Mon 15 Mar 1993.
