May 24, 1934 - May 14, 2015

Raymond A. Hasselman, age 80 of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Hospice of Pella - Comfort House in Pella. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Burial will follow at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015, for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church or Hospice of Pella and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.

The son of Lawrence and Irene (Adams) Hasselman, Raymond was born on May 24, 1934, in Newton, Iowa. Ray Served in the United States Army. On October 11, 1963, Ray was united in marriage to Janine Kay Livingston at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. A lifelong resident of Jasper County, Ray worked at Maytag for 28 years before his retirement. Ray enjoyed antiques. He belonged to an antique fruit jar and bottle club. Ray also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always laughing. He was a devoted husband and father amazing caregiver. He also enjoyed the outdoors.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Janine of Pella; a daughter, JoAnn Hasselman of Monroe; a sister, Pansy "Pat" House of Newton and several nieces and nephews that he loved very much.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, Donald, Richard, and Robert; and three sisters, Jane James, Wilma Hettinger, and Laura Robson. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 14 may, 2015.
