Harold Arthur “Babe” Smith Services Held February 6

Harold Arthur “Babe” Smith, 58, of Colfax, retired Colfax Chief of Police, died Saturday, Feb. 2, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, at The Howard St., Christian Church in Colfax.

The Rev. John McKinstry, pastor of the church, conducted services. Graveside military honors were conducted by Jones – Willis Post American Legion. Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.

The soloist was Edward J. Gannon, and the organist was Eleanor Howell.

Casket bearers were Robert Jones, Eben Van Dusseldorp, Robert Gulling, Gary Bolton, James Cole and Cliff Foreman.

Honorary bearers for Duan Schroeder, Harry Wilson, Gene Meckley, Duane Arlt, Jim Stewart, Morris Wilson, Mel Van Dusseldorp, and Tom Owens.

In charge of flowers were Marty Mullihan and Hazel Van Ekeren.

Walters – Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax handled arrangements.

Memorials to The Howard Street Christian Church may be left at the funeral home. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa 7 Feb 1991.
