Burial Service will be immediately following the funeral service at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton Saturday, February 1st, 2014

Benny J. Warrick, 69, of Newton, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at his home. A funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church, 210 N. 2nd Ave. E. in Newton. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials in Ben’s name may be left at the church the morning of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ben, the son of James Allen and Agnes Irene (Knapp) Warrick, was born on February 15, 1944 in Newton, Iowa. He graduated from Newton High School in 1962. Ben served his country during the Vietnam War from 1962-1966 in the U.S. Navy, working as an Aircraft Mechanic-Quality Control Inspector.

In 1963, Ben was united in marriage with Charlotte Ann Blackwell in Lawndale, California. During his time in the service he was stationed in North Island, San Diego, Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam, Sangley Point, Philippines, and several other islands in the South Pacific and South China Sea.

After the service, he and Charlotte made their home in Newton. Ben was a mechanic and worked for Hawkeye Chevrolet, Maples, and Bob Brown before becoming owner and operator of Warrick Motors. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 111, VFW Post 1655, Moose Lodge, Iowa Farm Bureau, and the Jasper County Historical Society. Ben enjoyed bowling, restoring old cars, and spending time in his shop. Ben’s home was always opened to family and friends whom he enjoyed visiting with.

Those left to honor Ben’s memory are his wife, Charlotte Warrick of Newton; son, Jim Warrick (Christine Churchill) of Newton; daughter, Jenn Gearhart of Newton; his grandchildren, Gabrielle and Ben Warrick and Emily and Trevor Gearhart; and his great-granddaughter, Harper Benedict.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeff Warrick; and brother, Timmy Warrick. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 29 Jan 2014.
