As per Mike’s wishes he has been cremated and no services are scheduled.

Those left to honor Mike’s memory are his wife of 44 years, Beverly of Newton; son, Michiel (Angela) Taber II of Des Moines; daughter-in-law, Alyssa Taber of Grimes; his two grandchildren, Samantha Taber of Des Moines and Aaron Taber of Grimes; mother, Lucille of Newton; his two sisters, LaVert (Robert) Beintema and Patricia Brown, all of Newton; his brother, Delvin (Cherry) Taber of Pomona, Missouri; mother-in-law, Betty Klingensmith of Newton; his sisters-in-law, Judy (Dean) Rafferty of Newton and Jeanne (Rod) Brouwer of Pueblo West, Colorado; his brother-in-law, Denny (Lori) Klingensmith of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leon; son, Jay and brothers, David and Kirk Taber; father-in-law, Forrest Klingensmith; and brother-in-law, Nick Klingensmith.

Mike was a graduate of Newton High School in 1965 and he served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1965-1969.

Mike was a service technician for Peoples Natural Gas and Black Hills Energy in Newton for 40 years, retiring in 2008.

Memorials to Skiff Hospice or to the Skiff Medical Center Cancer Clinic may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.
