Slack, Robert 'Bob' A. 1957-2012

Robert (Bob) A. Slack, age 55, of Des Moines, IA, was swept up in the arms of angels to be taken up to be with his heavenly Father on August 2, 2012, at Taylor House Hospice after a 6 year battle with lung cancer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Burial will follow at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation for Robert will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012, at the Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax, from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will be present. Memorials may be given in Robert's memory to the Robert Slack Memorial Fund and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneral homes.com.

The son of Francis (Sonny) & Marilyn (Gwinn) Slack, Robert (Bob) was born on March 30, 1957 in Chariton, IA. He graduated from Saydel High School in 1975. He was the father of 3 children; Amy, Angela and Andy. On November 27, 1991 he was united in marriage to Cynthia B. (Buenger-Warrick) in Las Vegas, NV. Robert was an Elder in the RLDS Church in Saylorville. Robert previously worked for G&S Services in Des Moines as a Certified Tow Truck Operator. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially his dogs Jazzie and Roxie. When his cancer went into remission he stated that God blessed him with time, so he started collecting clocks and watches.

Those left to honor his memory are his spouse, Cynthia (Cindy) Slack; his parents Francis (Sonny) and Marilyn (Gwinn) Slack of Des Moines; brother, Tim (Bonnie) Slack of Exira; sister, Connie (Harvey) Martin of Columbus, KS; brother, Ray (Cathy) Slack of Des Moines; sister, Rose Slack of Des Moines; brother, Rod (Lori) Slack of Urbandale. He is also survived by his extended family-in-laws, Curt (Kathie) Warrick of Valeria, Cory (Li Jian) Warrick of Valeria, and Crystal (Doug) Enderson of Altoona. Also by his twenty-seven nieces and nephews and twenty-six great nieces and nephews. ~ Jasper County Tribune, August 9, 2012
