Mrs. Emma Stier Services Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. George (Emma) Stier, 65, a resident of Laurel since 1972, and of the Laurel community since 1947, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 9, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter.
The Rev. Gary Hubley, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in the Greencastle Cemetery.
Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home of Baxter handled arrangements.
Survivors are her husband; three sons, Hollis of State Center, Ervin of Newton and Wayne of Independence, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Lois) Eilander of Kilduff; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by two brothers, Glen Stevens of Perry and Gene Stevens of Englewood, Colo.; and a sister, Mrs. Gaye Donecher of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a grandson.
Mrs. Stier was a member of the United Methodist Church in Madrid.
The daughter of John William and Ida C. Harvey Stevens, she was born June 15, 1913 at Madrid and attended Madrid Schools.
She was married in 1945 in Madrid.
She died Wednesday, March 7 at Marshalltown East Hospital. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thursday, March 15 1979
