Funeral Services Are Held Sunday For Loren Dodd

Died at Farm Home Friday Following An Illness of Some Duration

Loren Dodd, 45, well known farmer of this community, died at his farm home southeast of Colfax Friday, January 3rd, following an illness of some time. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church in Colfax Sunday afternoon with the Rev. W. M. Doughty officiating.

While his last illness was of short duration, lasting about a week, Mr. Dodd has been in poor health for several months. He was quite generally known in the community.

Loren E. Dodd, son of Joseph S. Dodd and Florence E. Willard, was born near Collins, Iowa, Jan. 18, 1895. He died at his home near Colfax, Iowa, Jan. 3, 1941, at the age of 45 years, 11 months and 18 days.

When he was six years old, his parents moved to Madison county, and he resided there until 1912. He then returned to Jasper county where he has been engaged in farming since that time.

ON the 19th day of September, 1913, he was united in marriage to Sarah Gertrude Campbell. To this union eight children were born, six of whom survive, Virginia of Los Angeles, California, Willis, Lloyd, Frank, Collin and Twila all at home. Two sons, Loren Joseph and Harlan E. preceded him in death.

Also surviving are his father, Joe Dodd, his mother, Mrs. Alva Willard; three sisters, Mrs. Harold Burgess of Osceola, Ia., Mrs. Ralph Hunter of Ira, Mrs. Rene DeCamp of Newton, and two brothers, Lester and Lloyd Dodd of Colfax.

Music at the funeral service Sunday was furnished by Mrs. Earl Plummer, Mrs. B. F. Van Dyke, John A. Davis and B. F. Van Dyke, with Miss Eleanor Howell accompanist.

Pall bearers were: Will Pierce, Robert Wilson, Jack Batty, Harry Barbour, Chas. Decker and Tom Wilson.

Mrs. John Cairns and Mrs. Sam Hartnett had charge of the flowers.

Burial was had in the Rorabaugh cemetery, southeast of Colfax.
