Barbara (Hanson) Trafton, age 95, of Sanbornville, passed away Monday evening, April 27, 2015 at Rochester Manor, after a short illness.

Born April 16, 1920 in Sanbornville, the daughter of Ralph W. and Marjorie (Knight) Hanson, she was a lifelong resident. She had just celebrated her 95th birthday with family and friends at Rochester Manor.

During her high school days, she spent two years at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, where she played Lacrosse, a team member, and two years graduating with the Class of 1938, at Rochester High School.

Barbara was a very active member of the Episcopal Church, a Past President of St. Monica’s Guild, a ladies guild of the Church. She made her famous salads and with her husband Parker worked in St. John’s kitchen for many years. The summer fair of the Church was important to her and she made many apple pies.

Upon retirement, she made several visits across the United States of America with her husband, spending time with family at Tulsa, Oklahoma, Boise, Idaho, Newton, Iowa and Lynnfield, Mass.

She was very involved with Wakefield Seniors, Wolfeboro Seniors, several square dancing clubs. She loved serving “Meals on Wheels” to area residents. Also, she loved her summer cottage on Lovell Lake, where she loved to entertain.

Barbara worked for area residents, including the Rev. Allen Clark, an Episcopal Priest, who sent weekly prayers and sermons to the country’s Dioceses in the Episcopal Church and many others in Ecumenical ways.

Survived by her son Brad and wife Elaine Trafton of Rochester, son Robert and wife Sheila Trafton of Lynnfield, MA, a sister Mary and husband William Wiles, 4 grandchildren: Stephen and Vickie Trafton, Stephanie and Marc Auclair, Scott and Alyssa Trafton, Sarita and husband Brian, great grandchildren: Brandon, Katie, Kyle, Halley, Christian, Justine, Justin, Sophia, Andrew, Allison, Alexander, 5 great great grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by two grandchildren: James Trafton and Barbara Trafton and siblings: Ralph W. Hanson, Jr., Donald Hanson, Philip Hanson and Marion Hanson.

Calling hours are Friday from 4-8 pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 2079 Wakefield Road in Sanbornville. A Thanksgiving Eucharist will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11am at Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, High Street in Sanbornville with Rev. Sue Poulin, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow at Lovell Lake Cemetery and a bereavement luncheon at the Parish House. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Church. ~ The Des Moines Register Legacy, Des Moines, Iowa 4 May 2015.
