Osman G. Grant, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Grant, died at the home of his parents in this city at 2:10 A. M. Tuesday, of consumption, aged nearly 26 years. Deceased has been gradually succumbing to the dread malady for the past three years, but not until last spring did the disease take an acute form.

Deceased was an exemplary young man and his sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of the community.

The funeral was held at the house at 2:00 P.M. today, Thursday, conducted by Rev. Quickenden, assisted by Rev. King, who spoke of the young man’s many noble traits of character. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery (Colfax, Iowa).

Those from abroad present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Newman of Nebraska, Mrs. Fannie Gilbert of Illinois, and Charley Howe of Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs. Grant are both quite sick and were unable to follow the body to the cemetery. The Colfax, Iowa Newspaper, 3 Oct 1899.
