Billy Paul Kimberlin, age 88 of Newton, Iowa, formerly of Centerville, became an angel on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Regents Nursing Home, Winter Park, FL.

Billy Paul was born in Grant City, Missouri on March 16, 1926 to Estella Bell Alvord Kimberlin and Dallas Ellsworth Kimberlin. He graduated from Mount Ayr High School in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

He served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Harwood as a sonar man, third class during World War II. Billy Paul was later recalled back into the Navy where he served his country faithfully during the Korean War.

Following his honorable military discharge, he worked numerous jobs to make a living until his decision to further his education by attending electrician schooling. Upon his completion of schooling, Billy Paul went to work for Iowa Southern Utilities. Although he began with ISU in the mailroom, Billy Paul advanced his position within the company throughout his thirty seven year career, retiring in 1989 as a buyer for the company.

Billy Paul loved his children and was the best daddy! He was a wonderful grandpa and uncle. Billy Paul loved to camp, travel, be outdoors, tell jokes, and tend to his garden. Moreover, he loved pets and wild animals-he loved all animals in general. Billy Paul was a longtime member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville.

Billy Paul was united in marriage to Avis Rose Ellen Stover on December 24, 1947 and born to this union were three children, Gearld John Kimberlin (Janet) (deceased first wife, Deanna Fitzgerald) of Florida, Johnna Lynn Endsley Kimberlin Owens of Knoxville, Iowa (ex-husband John Leroy Owens of Centerville) and (ex-husband Mark Frazer Carter of Pella, Iowa) and Janan Renee Kimberlin of Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Billy Paul Kimberlin II, Kevin John Kimberlin and Justin Dean Kimberlin, Jacob Leroy Owens (Ashley Martin) of Centerville, Iowa, Jade Lanora Owens Wooldridge (Kody Stephen Wooldridge) of Knoxville, Iowa; six great grandchildren living in Florida; two great grandchildren living in Iowa, Aubrey Kay Owens and Kinsley Lanor Wooldridge; nieces, Betty Whitson of Newton, Iowa, Kay Moredock (Ivan) of Newton, Iowa, Pat White (Darwin) of Riverside, California, Janice Meador (Rodger) of Newton, Iowa Jennifer Neslar (Gary) of Champagne, Illinois, Thelma Ratcliff of Newton, Iowa Wanda Ratcliff (Randy) of San Antonio, Texas, Donna Ruth (Mitch Polly) of Concord, Missouri, Karen Kimberlin of Atlantic, Iowa, Sharon Kimberlin of Columbus, Ohio; nephews, Gary Kimberlin (Kayona) of Norwalk, Iowa, Denny Kimberlin, David Kimberlin (Judy) and Doug Kimberlin all of the Kansas City, Missouri area; also, a nephew, Scot Kimberlin (Mary) of Kansas City, Missouri; multiple great nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Rozella Kimberlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Nemel, Wayne, Don, Cortland, Glen Dean, Arthur, and Leland; and a sister, Alverta.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, February 23, 2015 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. Burial with military rites will take place in the Haines Cemetery north of Centerville. A visitation will be held on Monday at Lange Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 12 PM until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the family of Billy Paul Kimberlin and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
