Jane Harlan, 67, was born October 8, 1947 to Ellis and Julia Harlan in Newton Iowa. She died Tuesday, February 3rd 2015, in Arlington, Virginia.

Jane graduated from Newton High School in 1965, where she received many awards as a baton twirler. She then graduated from Drake University and De Paul Law School.

Her career as an attorney spanned multiple states, but had the constant theme of helping those who couldn't help themselves. She had many passions in her life: animals, planting trees, music (she played the flute, oboe, and organ), politics, and her family, especially her four grandchildren.

Jane is survived by her mother, Julia Harlan; siblings, John Harlan and Mary Harlan; her children Sam Hanna, Laura Bergen, and Magda Rolfes; her grandchildren, Lily, Clara, Ada, and Reese.

She was preceded in death by her father Ellis Harlan.
