Thomas France Died Mon. In Des Moines
Funeral Services Held Wednesday From Methodist Church
Thomas France, 68, a former resident of Colfax, passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. Tom Nesbitt, 2635 Capital Ave., Des Moines, Monday, following an illness of some time.
Mr. France was a resident of this community for many years, working in the mines and farming. He never married and during his later life lived with his sister. Another brother, Sam France, passed away during the past year.
Thomas France was born in Yorkshire, England, May 8, 1865, and departed this life June 19, 1933, from his sister’s home on Capital Avenue in Des Moines, at the age of 68 years, 1 month and 10 days.
Thomas came to the United States with his parents when a boy of four years of age, and lived with them in their Indiana home until coming to the Colfax vicinity fifty years ago.
Short funeral services were held in Des Moines Wednesday morning and at 1:30 services were conducted from the Colfax Methodist church with Rev. L. C. McDonald officiating.
Burial was in the Highland cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. B. F. Van dyke and Mrs. E. Plummer with Mrs. Cleo Wall accompanist.
