Melburn "Melby" Clymer
July 14, 1931 - January 23, 2015

Melburn Louis "Melby" Clymer, age 83 of Newton, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2015, at Park Centre in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City, with burial following at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Melby Clymer Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of William and Ada (Stravers) Clymer, Melby was born on July 14, 1931, in Prairie City. He graduated from Newton High School in 1949. Melby proudly served in the United States Navy and was a Korean War Veteran. On June 30, 1951, he was united in marriage to Jayne Ann Thatcher, who he was deeply devoted to. Melby was a retired farmer and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 63 years, Jayne; two sons, Mark (Deb) Clymer and John (Beth) Clymer; a sister, Norma Lee Ali, and a very special niece, Kim (Norb) Manwarren and her family. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren, Darin, Tennille, Justin, Tiffannie, Jake, Brian, Jason and Nick; and 11 great grandchildren, Clay, Carter, Lydia, Rachel, Josiah, Justice, Mercy, Luke, Kinser, McKynna and Isaac.
