Dies in California

Sarah Jane Leonard, daughter of Byron* and Sarah Jane Leonard, was born on the 28th day of January, 1857, in Jasper county, Iowa, and died May 5, 1941 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. W. Hall of Roseville, Calif., at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 7 days.

Having lost her mother in infancy she was reared by her grandmother Conner, whom she dearly loved.

On September 9, 1875, she was united in marriage to Cass Stock and to this union eight children were born, two of whom preceded her in death - Mrs. Laura Boss of Brentford, S. D., having passed away in 1920 and James Earle, having died in infancy. Those surviving are: Mrs. C. W. Hall of Roseville, Calif., Mrs. C. A. Maxwell of Collins, Ia., Mrs. T. E. Vanatta of Webster, S. D., Mrs. Stella Millet of Newton, Ia., A. C. Stock of Pierpont, S. D., and Mrs. Delbert Eaton of Denver, Colo. Lived At Colfax

On Oct. 16, 1891 Mr. Stock passed away and was laid to rest in the Newton Union cemetery. Mrs. Stock continued to live in Newton where she made a fine Christian home and educated her seven children.

On April 17, 1907 she was united in marriage to James Stock of Colfax, Ia., and then went to live on a farm near Colfax for several years. They afterward moved back to Newton where they resided until he passed away on Dec. 21, 1922.

Early in life Mrs. Stock united with the First Christian Church of Newton, Ia. Here she retained her church affiliations until the time of her death.

Mrs. Stock was a member of the Three Quarter Century club of the Newton Daily News and Jasper County Record and greatly enjoyed the reunions held each year."
* Her father's first name was Abyram, not Byron.
