Virgia Harper Dies Thursday; Rites Monday
Mrs. Walter Harrison (Virgia M.) Harper, 77, of 403 E. 2nd St. N. a longtime resident of Newton, died Thursday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Johnson-Reese Chapel.
The Rev. Richard Bentzinger, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Johnson-Reese Chapel after 9 a.m. Sunday.Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Jeannette Kooistra of Newton; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Harper of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1950, and a daughter, Virginia Skow.
Mrs. Harper was a member of the United Methodist Church, White Shrine, Eastern Star and Moose Lodge.
The daughter of Thomas and Ethel Collins Long, she was born in 1898 in Lorimor and attended Bussey schools.
She was married in 1917.
