Dorothy L. "Dot" Kain, age 90 of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Newton Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Prairie City Church of the Brethren with burial following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe Fire Department or the Prairie City Church of the Brethren and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Raymond Donald and Alvirda Mae (Long) McFadden, Dot was born on November 12, 1924, in Prairie City. On February 24, 1942, she was united in marriage to Hollis Arden Kain in Bethany, Missouri. Dot worked on the farm most of her life. She also ran a day care center for several years. She was a past member of the Rebecca Lodge.

nor her memory include her children: Arden (Barb) Kain of Urbandale, Marla (Marla Johnson) Rigby of Prairie City, Karla (Jim) Martinache of Monroe, and a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Kain of Prairie City; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou Kane of Prairie City, a sister-in-law, Marg McFadden of West Virginia, and her loving cat, Rocky.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Hollis in 1999; a son, Robert in 2013; and a brother, Keith in 1999. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 20 Dec 2014.
