Ruth Opal Hull, 94, of Grinnell, formerly of Searsboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Searsboro Community Church. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed towards the Searsboro Community Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Ronald) Beyer of Grinnell; three grandchildren, Brian Beyer of Newton, Brent (Denise) Beyer of Waukon and Kari (Wes) Strong of Hugo, Minn.; and five great-grandchildren, Claire and Brady Beyer and Austin, Annika and Harrison Strong. ~ The Newton Daily New, Newton, Iowa 18 Dec 2014.

Ruth Opal Hull, 94, of Grinnell and formerly of Searsboro, died December 17, 2014, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, at the Searsboro Community Church with the Rev. Don Job officiating. Pianist will be Linda Laverman and vocalists Darrell and Duane Brand. Pallbearers will be Brent Beyer, Earl James, Fritz James, Larry Meredith, Wes Strong and Larry Willemsen. Honorary Bearer will be Brian Beyer. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville.

Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be directed towards the Searsboro Community Church.

Ruth was born February 16, 1920, in Lynnville the daughter of Albert and Dora Garner James. She was raised in the Lynnville area and attended rural school near her home and then Lynnville High School.

On February 16, 1938, she was united in marriage with Landon Donald Hull, in Lacey, Iowa. The couple farmed in Jasper County for several years prior to moving to Searsboro in 1949. She moved to Seeland Park in Grinnell in April of 2010.

Ruth was a cook in the Searsboro School District for many years. She was a faithful member of the Searsboro Community Church where she also taught Sunday school.

Ruth's life was centered on her family, church and her home. She loved and cherished her time with her grandchildren and enjoyed all their activities. She was very content to stay at her home where she kept busy with running a household. She was passionate with her gardening, canning her produce and raising flowers. She was a wonderful cook.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Ronald) Beyer of Grinnell; three grandchildren, Brian Beyer of Newton, Brent (Denise) Beyer of Waukon and Kari (Wes) Strong of Hugo, Minnesota; and five great-grandchildren, Claire and Brady Beyer and Austin, Annika and Harrison Strong.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Landon in 2004; two sisters, Lola Willemsen and Wanda Williams; and three brothers, Harold, Lloyd and Ward James. ~ Tributes.com Dec 2014.
