Roy Thomas Dies At Fort Madison, Set Funeral Here
Roy Thomas, 64, former resident of Newton, died early this morning at Fort Madison. Funeral services will be held here Wednesday afternoon at three o’clock at Johnson-Murdoch Funeral Home.
Officiating will be Rev. W. W. Johnson, pastor of the United Presbyterian church, and burial will be in Newton Union cemetery.
Mr. Thomas was born Aug. 30, 1887 at Emmetsburg to Charles and Nellie Thomas. He lived all of his life in Iowa and was a veteran of World War I. Mr. Thomas was a baker by trade.
Survivors are one son, Robert of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Guy Newton of Minneapolis and Mrs. Grace McGriff of Newton, and two brothers, Ralph of Los Angeles and Dewey of Minneapolis. A daughter, Bernice, preceded him in death.
