Funeral services for William Oscar Frazer were held from the Christian church Saturday afternoon with Rev. Paul E. Becker in charge. Rev. Albert Vander Ploeg of Pella, who was a life long friend of Mr. Frazer, also had a part in the service. Burial was in the family lot at Oakwood cemetery at Pella, Ia.
Music was furnished by Ethel Orwick and Veria Cosner with Mrs. Becker at the piano, who sang, “Jesus Lover of My Soul,” “After” and “Home of the Soul.”
Pall bearers were Lorin Rickabaugh, John Vander Ploeg, Wallace Thomason, Harold Frazer, Doyle Sille and Frazer Thomason.
William Oscar Frazer was born in Henry county, Indiana, Dec. 17, 1852 and died at the home of his daughter in Newton on March 5, after an illness of only a few days.
Mr. Frazer came with his parents to Iowa when he was a baby, settling near Pella, where he grew to manhood and where he was married to Cornelia A. Vriezelaar on Nov. 6, 1878. To them were born nine children, all of whom survive except the oldest daughter, Edna, who died on Feb. 7, 1922.
Besides his widow he leaves four sons, Charles of New Sharon, Vern of Prairie City and Ralph and Floyd of Newton, four daughters, Mrs. Elsie Vander Ploeg and Mrs. Cassie Rickabaugh of Monroe, Mrs. Alma McKeever of Otley and Mrs. Mabel Thomason of Newton, two sisters, Mrs. John Kelly of Omaha and Mrs. Henry Rankin of Lincoln, Neb. and one brother, M. D. Frazer of Forbes, Mo., besides 18 grand children.
Mr. Frazer made his home in various places during his life, one period of 22 years being spent in Galesburg and a number of years in Newton where he was engaged in the carpenter trade.
He united with the Baptist church in Otley early in life and soon after its organization and where ever he lived was deeply interested in church work.
