Kimberly Sue Beck, 47, of Grinnell, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Rose Blank, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Pallbearers will be Terry Beck, Mike Latcham, Ryan Latcham, Travis Martin, Matt Snook, T.J. Snook, Stevie Stonewell and Randy Stidham. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Kimberly Sue Beck Memorial Fund.

Kim was born Dec. 17, 1966, in Newton, the daughter of Harold and Betty Ann Doty Snook. She was raised in Newton, and received her education in the Newton School District.

On Sept. 2, 1988, she was united in marriage with Verl August Beck in Newton. The couple lived in the Newton and Grinnell areas for much of their married lives. Kim was a homemaker and took great pride in raising her children and caring for her home. She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church. She loved all things pertaining to Elvis, both his music and memorabilia and her favorite movie star was Chuck Norris. She was an avid collector of unicorns and held a passion for latch hook and making jewelry. She enjoyed stock car racing, playing cribbage, attending concerts, walking and watching “scary” movies.

Survivors include her husband, Verl of Grinnell; two daughters, Elisabeth “Lisa” Shafer of Des Moines and Mariah Beck of Grinnell; one sister, Shawn (Jeffrey) Armstrong of Johnston; and two brothers, Tim (Fayetta) Snook of Oskaloosa and Brain (Kayla) Snook of Dover, Okla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Betty Ann Snook. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa 5 Nov 2014.
