Leonard William Barton died at his home on Nov. 8, 2014.

Leonard was born on Jan. 24, 1933, to Hannah Owens and William “Irish” Barton. He went to school in Newton, and graduated from Newton High School in 1952. He served his country from 1953-1955, in the Army. While stationed in Washington, he met and married his wife of 59 years, Norma Faye. To this union three children were born, Mike and wife Gayle, Steve and wife LeAnn and Machelle Craig and husband Brad.

Leonard is survived by his three children; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, JoAnn (Phil) Oswalt and Betty Valentine, both of Newton; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with military rites will be at 1 p.m., Nov. 29 at the VFW Hall in Huntington, Ore. Family requests no flowers. Memorials to the Huntington Museum at P.O. Box 247, Huntington, OR 97907 have been designated.
