Robert Rouse, 80, of Baxter, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at the Baxter Care Center. Visitation was Sunday at Bethany United Church of Christ in rural Baxter. A funeral service was Monday, Nov. 17 at Bethany United Church of Christ with Pastor Wanda Seydel officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Robert Eugene Rouse was born Sept. 8, 1934, to Bee and Dorothy (Morris) in Newton. He attended school in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1953. Following school he enlisted into the Army Reserve.

He married Elaine Fisher on June 17, 1956, at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter. The couple resided close to Baxter, and farmed until Robert retired in 2004.

Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with Elaine most especially their Canada trips and wintering in Texas, farming, camping, boating and hunting. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Angus Association.

Those left to cherish his loving memories are his wife of 58 years Elaine; his sons, Henry (Laurie) Rouse and Harold (Patty) Rouse; grandchildren, Aaron Rouse, Eric (Rachel) Rouse, Chad Rouse and Marissa Rouse; great-grandchild Rijah Rouse; sister Wanda (Danny) Cleaver; sister-in-law Violet Rouse; brother-in-law Roland Funk; many nieces and nephews; and close friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Lorine Warner and twin sister Roberta Funk; and his brother Keith Rouse.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Robert Rouse memorial fund.
