Reasnor – Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie McGregor, 79, of Reasnor, were conducted Friday afternoon at the Methodist church at Reasnor with interment following in the Mount Zion cemetery. Rev. B. W. McEldowney was in charge.
Pallbearers were J. Willemsen, Elmer Mercer, Roy Schwartz, Sam McDaniel, Roy Ritter and Tony Willemsen.
A quartet of Mrs. Louis Broderson, Mrs. Louis VanderPol, John Van Wyngarden and George Took, accompanied by Mrs. Lillie Guthrie, sang “Tell Mother I’ll Be There,” “Going Down the Valley,” “Sweetly Resting” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Mrs. Frank Carpenter and Mrs. William McBride were in charge of the flowers.
Nettie Efnor was born in Coffee county, Kansas, Jan. 24, 1861 and passed away at her home near Reasnor, Ia., Feb. 21, 1940. She was 79 years and 28 days old at the time of her death.
When she was but two years of age she came to Iowa with her grandfather and mother in a covered wagon. Her mother often told, with enjoyment of riding a horse nearly all of the way on the long journey. They settled on a farm two and three-fourths miles north-east of Reasnor, where Miss Nettie grew to young womanhood.
As a young woman she united with the Evangelical church, which was then in Reasnor. On Nov. 26, 1883 she was married to B. L. McGregor. She and her husband settled on a farm one half mile south of the present McGregor home. Here they continued to reside for ten years after which time the house was moved to its present location on Highway M one-half mile east of the town of Reasnor. This location has been her home ever since, except 4 years during which time she resided in Reasnor.
Her husband preceded her in death in the year 1934 at the age of 76 years.
To this union were born three children, Mrs. J. C. lamb of Reasnor, Leslie, residing one half mile east of the McGregor home and Lynn who has always made his home with his mother.
Besides these, other surviving relatives are five grandchildren, Willard, Mardell, Kenneth and Ralph McGregor and Curtis Lamb.
