Henry Wintermeier Drops Dead
Was Getting Ready To Go Out To Farm; Dies at 7:50 a.m.
BAXTER – Henry Wintermeier, 59, life long resident of Baxter and an extensive land owner, died suddenly at 7:50 o’clock this morning as he prepared to go out to his farm northeast of Baxter.
Death was due to apoplexy, Coroner Ralph V. Toland of Newton, said this morning. Mr. Wintermeier had been suffering some with heart trouble the past year, relatives said.
Gets Pail of Water
Mr. Wintermeier had arisen as usual this morning and had just gone across the street where he is living to get a pail of water. He had returned with the water, set it down in the kitchen and then collapsed into a chair, Coroner Toland said.
Medical assistance was called immediately, but death had been almost instantaneous.
Mr. Winterset (sic) had lived all of his life in the Baxter community. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Wintermeier, sr. The elder Mr. Wintermeier died in October of last year.
For the past year he has been living at the home of Mrs. Robena Miller, where he suffered his final brief illness this morning.
Two Sisters, Brother
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Pfile and Mrs. Emma Luthe, both of near Melbourne, and one brother, August Wintermeier, jr. of Baxter. He was unmarried.
The body was taken to Boyd’s Funeral home of Baxter. Funeral arrangements had not been completed yet today.
There will be no inquest, Coroner Toland said
