TOOL’S CHAPEL – John M. Woody, son of W. H. and J. E. Woody was born January 3, 1866, in Marion county near Monroe, and passed away at the University hospital June 3, 1939 at the age of 73 years, five months and one day.
He had been in failing health for several years and the last six months he had been in the hospital most of the time.
Mr. Woody was united in marriage to Anna L. Byers, Jan. 1, 1890 and to this union were born four children: Mrs. Olive Marshall of Monroe, Asnor L., who passed away July 23, 1934, Percy H. of St. Louis, Mo., and Mark M. of Monroe.
Mrs. Woody died May 5, 1936.
Mr. Woody was converted at Tool’s Chapel in 1902
He leaves to mourn his passing his three children, seven grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Phena Misner of Monroe, and Mrs. Rena Misner of Ridgeway, Mo., besides other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Tools Chapel Monday afternoon, June 5, at 2:00 o’clock by Rev. Rev. J. B. Pritchard of Melcher, a former pastor assisted by Rev. W. W. Watson of this charge.
Flowers were arranged by Mrs. Earnest Calkins and Mrs. Con. Kaldenburg.
Musical selections were by Mrs. J. B. Pritchard, Mrs. Neal McKee and Ruth, Neal McKee and Chris Vander Pol with Mrs. Bert Vaughan at the piano.
Pallbearers were Will Crane and Will Marshall, former old neighbors in Monroe, Con. Kaldenburg, Ernest Calkins, Chet Fennema and Ed Lust of this neighborhood. Mr. Woody was laid to rest in the Monroe cemetery.
