Rika Van Maanen; Lynnville, Dies; Services Friday
LYNNVILLE-SULLY – Mrs. Teunis (Rika) Van Maanen, 71, of Rt. 1, Lynnville, a resident of the Lynnville community since 1940 and a Sully area resident for six years, died this morning at the Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Reformed Church in Sully.
The Rev. B. Daniel Hakken, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sully Cemetery.
Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society will be accepted.
Survivors are her husband; eight sons, Walton, Le Roy, Gilbert and Dale, all of Lynnville, Marvin and Rodney, both of Grinnell, Norman of Newton and Dennis of Kellogg; three daughters, Mrs. Arnout (Arlene) Dunnick of Barnes City, Mrs. Melvin (Shirley) Uitermarkt of Leighton and Mrs. Frank (Karen Van Soelen of Sully; and three grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. John (Cora) De Kruyss, Mrs. Herman (Bessie) Jansen and Mrs. Harrison (Marie) Terpstra of Lynnville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, an infant son and a granddaughter.
The daughter of Roy and Jennie Rozendaal Fortuin, she was born April 24, 1906 in Mentor, Minn., and was educated in Sully are schools.
She was married Feb. 22, 1934 in Sully.
