Funeral services for Melissa Dawn “Missy” Bishop, 17 of 616 W. 4th St. S., a lifelong resident of Newton, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Community Heights Alliance Church.
The Rev. David Presher, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Canfield Cemetery in Ivy.
Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Friday, March 23.
Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions to the Community Heights Alliance Church may be left at the funeral home or at the church.
She died Wednesday morning, March 21, at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Survivors are her father and stepmother, Marvin L. and Gloria Heyveld Bishop of Newton; her step-father and mother, Del and Bonnie Bostic Buntjer of Batesville, Ark.; and two brothers, Carl and Tim Bishop, both of Newton.
Also surviving are her grandparents, Mrs. Lois M. Bishop of Wichita, Kan., and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bostic of Vilonia, Ark.; her step-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Heyveld of Monroe and Mrs. George Buntjer of Worthington, Minn.; and her step-great-grandparents, Glen McConeghey of Prairie City and Mrs. Walter Heyveld of Pella.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Elton O. Bishop.
Miss Bishop was a member of the Community Heights Alliance church and the Alliance Youth Fellowship.
She attended Newton Community High School where she was a member of the high school chorus.
The daughter of Marvin L. and Bonnie Lucille Bostic Bishop, she was born Nov. 14, 1966 in Des Moines.
