Otto Callison, Longtime Newton Resident Dies
Otto C. Callison, 95, formerly of 518 W. 2nd St. S., a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Thursday afternoon at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Marvin Potter, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home after 5 p.m. today.
Survivors are a number of nieces and nephews, including Russell “Rusty” Callison of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Irma, April 7, 1976, a daughter in infancy, two brothers, Roy and Hallie, and a sister, Kate Walker.
Mr. Callison, who formerly owned and operated the Dawn Café and Callison Cafeteria, was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, the United Presbyterian Men and the Elks Club.
The son of C. J. and Martha E. Carrier Callison, he was born Dec. 30, 1882 at Metz and attended Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines.
He was married to Irma Spain Callison May 1, 1909 at Metz. ~ The Newton Daily News, July 28, 1978.
