MONROE, Iowa - Gail Elaine Lagergren, 40, of Monroe, died of cancer, Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton
with Father Phil Cardenzana officiating. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe is in charge of arrangements. A vigil service will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.

The daughter of Ernest and Catherine Pickens Moden, she was born Oct. 15, 1956, in Des Moines. She was a graduate of East High School in Des Moines and attended cosmetology school in Des Moines.

She married Michael Lagergren July 28, 1979, in Des Moines.

A resident of Monroe since 1979, she worked as a receptionist for Aluminum Distributors in Des Moines. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, the Highland Park American Legion Auxiliary and was a Girl Scout Leader for Monroe.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Brandon and Wyatt of Monroe; three daughters, Samantha, Kayla and Candice, all of Monroe; and two brothers, Francis and Gary Moden of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
