Jodie Christy, 47, of Newton died on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A celebration of life will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Saturday, October 4, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The celebration will begin with a time of sharing. Memorials in Jodie’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Jodie, the son of Wilbur and Betty (Hanawalt) Christy, was born on January 3, 1967 in Des Moines. He grew up in West Des Moines and Monroe, graduating from Monroe High School in 1987. Jodie worked at Dodd’s Trash and Recycling, Hewitts, FBG, Oldham Can Redemption, Days Inn, Manatts, and Kaeding Properties.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, collecting hot wheels, going to concerts, WWE wrestling, football, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his nephew and best friend, Jake. Those left to honor Jodie’s memory are his mom, Betty Christy of Monroe; siblings, John Christy (Audrey Bailey) of Monroe and Colleen (Clayton) Hayes of Newton; daughter, Hope Bauer of Newton; his son, Michael Kelso-Christy of Albia; grandson, Kaesien; fiancé, Tammy Morgan and her son, Thomas Morgan, both of Newton; and his nieces and nephews, Jon, Jessica, Jake, Daniel, Terry, Tara, Emily, Jaylee, Kaegan, Sheena, and John. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Christy; sister, Wanda Ore; niece, Mindy Richardson; nephews, Paul Thomas; and a great-nephew, Caleb. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 30 Setp 2014.
