PETER BREED-Peter Breed, the son of John & Catherine Zeeman Breed, was born in St. Maartensburg, The Netherlands on May 10, 1890 and left this life from his home in Monroe, Feb 23 at the age of 69 years. He came to American in 1907 and with the exception of a few years that he lived in Northern Iowa he spent most of his life in and around Monroe. Feb 9, 1916 he was married to Nellie Vriezelaar. To this union two sons were born, John and Arie. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jacob. He is survived by his wife, sons, three grandchildren, five brothers and two sister, William and John of Inwood, Anna Wartenhorst of Sioux Falls, SD, Arie of Fairview, SD, and Gertie Breed of the Netherlands; eight nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends. he was converted in Jan 1931 and joined the First Baptist church of Monroe where he attended most faithfully. He served the Lord steadfastly and diligently in many ways and in various offices of the church. At the time of his death he was an honorary life-time deacon. Funeral services were held Feb 26 at the Monroe Baptist church with Rev. Donald Brong, pastor of the church officiating. Burial was at the Monroe Cemetery. Mrs. Lorraine Honnold was the organist. Pallbearers were Arthur Vander Ploeg, James Vriezelaar, Lee Vriezelaar, Roy Vander Ploeg, Arthur Vriezelaar and Blaine Vriezelaar.
