Mary V. Heavlin
Mary V. Heavlin, 90, of Newton, died of congestive heart failure, Sunday, Oct. 19, at Skiff Medical Center.
Memorial services will he held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the church of the Nazarene. Funeral services will be held at a later date with Elder Larry Worley of Newton Jehovah Witnesses Church officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorials in Mrs. Heavlin’s name to the Church of the Nazarene will be accepted.
The daughter of Tom and Emma DeMoss, she was born April 1, 1907, near Monroe. A lifelong resident of Jasper County, she resided in Monroe and Prairie City. She has been a resident of Newton since 1934.
She married C.A. Heavlin Oct. 10, 1935, in Newton.
She was employed by the Maytag Company and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses Church in Newton.
Survivors include a daughter, Emma Mae Heavlin-Philbrick of Newton; a brother, Tom DeMoss of Knoxville; and a sister, Grace Martinache of Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1937; and several brothers and sisters.
