April 1, 1917 - May 21, 2014

Berniece A. Brubaker, age 97 of Prairie City, died on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Parkridge Specialty Care Center in Pleasant Hill. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Prairie City Church of The Brethren. Burial will take place at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from noon until service time at the church. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Prairie City Church of the Brethren or Care Initiatives Hospice. The daughter of Oscar and Lydia (Oliphant) Cabbage, Berniece was born on April 1, 1917, in Woodward, Iowa. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1934. On August 21, 1938, she was united in marriage to Price Norman Brubaker. Berniece was a member of the Prairie City Church of the Brethren, the VC8 Club and Hawkeye Gas Engine Club. She also enjoyed going to antique and tractor shows, quilting, cross stitching and playing card games especially cribbage.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Dennis (Sue) Brubaker of Grundy Center and Colleen (Max) Vande Lune or Prairie City, eight grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband in 1996, six siblings and a great grandson, Price Vande Lune ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa.
