Carolyn “Sue” Wilkie, 75, of Prairie City died Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 24 at the Prairie City United Methodist Church with burial following at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 2 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, May 23 at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton Iowa.

Carolyn "Sue" Wilkie, age 75 of Prairie City, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Prairie City United Methodist Church with burial following at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 23, 2014, from 2:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The family will greet friends from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Sue Wilkie Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Ezra Gaius and Hazel Dare (Grubb) Wintermote, Sue was born on November 11, 1938, in Chambers, Nebraska.

Sue graduated from Chambers High School in 1956, and went on to get a degree in nursing. She worked as at various hospitals in Nebraska and Iowa, Clearview Nursing Home in Prairie City, with Dr. Ververka in Prairie City, Blue Cross / Blue Shield for 14 years, retiring in 2000, and with Dr. Buitenwerf and Dr. Hagerty at Prairie City Dental Office retiring in 2007.

On July 8, 1961, she was united in marriage to Eldon Dale Wilkie in Omaha, Nebraska. Sue was a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church, where she served on various committee's and as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Prairie City P.E.O, P.T.A., Booster Club, Garden Club, Rec Board, and served on the School Board. Sue was also active as a Cub Scout leader, Campfire Girls leader and the Red Hats Society.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Cindy (David) Copple of Coppell, Texas, Cristy (Joe) Jennings of Prairie City, Jim (Michele) Wilkie of Prairie City, and Steve Wilkie of Prairie City and ten grandchildren, Alexandra, Rebecca, and John Copple, Matthew, Ryan and Kayla Jennings, Kaitlyn and Tanner Wilkie, and Kody and Chase Wilkie. Preceding her in death were her parents and husband. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa.
