Henry “Hank” Dykstra, 88, of Monroe died Monday, May 12, 2014, at Jefferson Place in Pella.

A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella at a later date. The family will greet friends following the service. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa.

Henry "Hank" Dykstra, age 88 of Monroe, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014, at Jefferson Place in Pella. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella at a later date. The family will greet friends following the service. Memorials may be directed to the First Reformed Church in Prairie City or the Monroe Fire Department. The son of Gradus and Jeanette (DeWild) Dykstra, Hank was born on September 22, 1925, Otley, Iowa. He attended the Silver Grove School until 8th grade. On September 10, 1947, he was united in marriage to Esther Van Maaren in Pella. To this union two daughters were born, Janice and Kathy. Hank lived in the Otley/Pella area for 24 years and farmed the Monroe area for 64 years. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Prairie City, the Monroe Kiwanis, and the Red Rock Old Threshers.

Those left to honor his memory include his two daughters, Janice (Jerry) Davis and Kathy (Rick) Van Wyngarden both of Monroe; eight grandchildren, Mindi Pacheco, Jodi Davis, Emily Shaw, Kara Wieland, Jeffrey Davis, Bryce Van Wyngarden, Christa Gibbs, and Weston Van Wyngarden and five great grandchildren.

Preceding Hank in death were his parents, Wife, Esther in 2001, and a brother Albert in 1968. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa.
