Kyle Andrew Smith, the son of William and Leah (Merrill) Smith, was born on March 4, 1995 in Waterloo, Iowa. He grew up in Waterloo, Dunkerton, and Oelwein, prior to moving to Kellogg two years ago. Kyle worked summers as a roofer and detasseling. He had also worked for Priority Plastics in Grinnell. The love of Kyle’s life was his son, Noah. He also enjoyed skateboarding and bicycling. Kyle died at the age of 18 on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, in Kellogg. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul Smith and Virginia Beach. Those left to honor Kyle’s memory are his son, Noah Smith; mom, Leah Smith (Mike Cassady) of Kellogg; dad, William “B.J.” (Allison) Smith of Oelwein; siblings, Billy Joe Smith, Jr. of Memphis, TN, Delayna (Neal) Jochims of Jesup, Rebecca Smith of Charles City, Cheyenne (Kody) Crandall of Waterloo, Cameron Smith of Kellogg/Oelwein, Cody Martin of Kellogg, and Kenny Sturgill of Kellogg; his maternal grandparents, John and Sara Merrill of North Carolina; his girlfriend, Katie Root and her son, Anthony “Fatty” Brewer of Dunkerton; and his many nieces and nephews.
