Ethel M. (Patterson) Berry, 102, of Baxter died on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at the Baxter Health Care Center in Baxter.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter.

The family will greet friends immediately following the services with a lunch at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter.

Memorials to the Congregational United Church of Christ may be left at the church on the morning of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add Attn: Berry Family on the envelope.

Ethel the daughter of John and Clara (Young) Patterson was born on February 2, 1912 in rural Baxter, Iowa. She was a graduate of Collins High School.

Ethel was united in marriage with Alden Berry. Following Alden’s death Ethel opened a beauty shop in her home in Baxter that she had for many years. She was an active member of the UCC church where she had been in charge of the funeral lunches for many years. She had lived in the Baxter Senior Housing Apartments for many years prior to her moving to the Baxter Health Care Center.

Those left to honor Ethel’s memory are her many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alden and brother, Dick Patterson. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.
