Laveta M. Beitel, 92, of Newton died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at her home in Newton.

A graveside service for will be held at Newton Union Cemetery a later date. There is no visitation with the family planned at this time. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Family graveside services for LaVeta will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Newton Union Cemetery. There is no visitation with the family planned at this time. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated in LaVeta's name to Skiff Hospice, and may be left at the funeral home. LaVeta M. Beitel, 92, the daughter of Blueford J. and Lela M. (Kennedy) Aldridge, was born August 24, 1921, in New Virginia, Iowa. She attended rural school in the New Virginia area.

On April 21, 1945, LaVeta was united in marriage with Clifford C. Beitel in Oakland, California. She and Clifford moved to the Newton area shortly after they were married. She devoted her life to her family and friends, and was employed as a sales clerk for Penny's, Wards and Leuthold-Bradford Clothing.

Death came to LaVeta on Tuesday morning, April 15, 2014, at her home in Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cliff on Nov. 27, 1989; her three brothers: Cleo, Leland and Merrill Aldridge; and a sister Leota Ripperger. LaVeta will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Those left to honor LaVeta's memory include her daughters and son-in-law: Linda Beitel of San Francisco, CA; and Pam and Jeff Van Houten of Altoona; her sister Delores Grant of Altoona; her two brothers: Albert Aldridge of Indianola and Randall Aldridge of Ackworth; several nieces and nephews; and her many friends.
