Iva Mae Hummel, 84, formerly of Newton, died Monday morning, March 31, 2014, at her home in South Hutchinson, Kan.

Iva Mae was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Cliff, on June 29, 2014.

A time of remembrances and interment service for Iva Mae and Cliff will be held at a later date at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Online condolences may be left at www.pencefh.com.

Iva Mae Hummel, 84, formerly of Newton, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at her home in South Hutchinson, KS.

Iva Mae was born January 31, 1930. Iva Mae is survived by her five children: Chistine (Denis) Ward of Oak Grove, LA, Catherine (Patrick) Dunnam of Fort Worth, TX, Kevin Hummel of South Hutchinson, KS, Kimberly (Cindy) Hummel of Cleburne, TX, Kari (Rickey) Burks of Hutchinson; KS, his five grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Matthew George, Elisabeth (Jeffrey) Graber and their daughter Lily Mae Graber; Iva Dunnam, Melody Hummel and Zack Burks; and families of Newton.

Iva Mae attended school and graduated with the Class of 1948. Iva Mae was united in marriage with Clifford Jerome "Cliff" Hummel. After Cliff returned to Newton, after the Korean War, Iva Mae and Cliff bought Gray's Lounge in 1952, where she and Cliff, as partners in marriage and business, worked together. Then in 1963, built Cliff's Restaurant. In 1967, the business was sold to Cliff's brother Don Hummel, as Iva and Cliff embarked on a new journey and moved to Fort Worth, TX, where they owned and operated Ethan Allen Furniture Stores. Both sons Kevin and Kim were involved in the operation.

Iva Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cliff on June 29, 2014.

A Time of Remembrances and Interment service for Iva Mae and Cliff, will be held at a later date, at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
