Claudia J. (Valentine) Wyatt, 62, of Newton died on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at the funeral home.
Memorials to Relay For Life, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Center Friends Church, or to the Donor’s Choice may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home; please add, Attn: Wyatt Family on the envelope.

Those left to honor Claudia’s memory are her daughter, JoAnna (Ethan) Huisman of West Des Moines; two granddaughters, Emma and Ellie Huisman; her mother, Lorna Valentine of Newton; brother, Jim (Marlene) Valentine of Bondurant; and her niece, Darla Davidson and nephew, Scott Valentine.

Those left to honor Claudia’s memory are her daughter, JoAnna (Ethan) Huisman of West Des Moines; two granddaughters, Emma and Ellie Huisman; her mother, Lorna Valentine of Newton; brother, Jim (Marlene) Valentine of Bondurant; and her niece, Darla Davidson and nephew, Scott Valentine. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard in 1994.

Claudia was a graduate of Newton High School in 1969.

Claudia worked at the Vernon Company for 35 years where she was the Manager of Order Services. She had also worked many years at Drug Town in Newton.

Claudia was a member of the Center Friends Church where she had been the pianist for 30+ years. She was a past member of Newton Chapter No. 100 Order Of The Eastern Star. Claudia loved being with her granddaughters, Emma and Ellie. She also enjoyed “Patio Time” with her friends. Following her father’s death in 1994 Claudia organized and annually headed up the Vernon’s team for Relay For Life. She also headed up Vernon’s “Thanks With Franks” event.
