June 7, 1976ELMER LARSEN DIES FRIDAY; RITES TUESDAY
Elmer C. Larsen, 67, of 1210 E. 15th St. S., a resident of Newton for more than 30 years, died Friday evening at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
Father Francis E. Bass, pastor of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Grundy Center.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society will be accepted.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Wilmer (Donna) Pickering of Clatskanie, Ore.; three grandsons, Steven Pickering of Portland, Ore., Michael Pickering of Long View, Wash., and Curtis Pickering of Clatskanie, Ore.; a granddaughter, Karla Pickering of Clatskanie, Ore.; a brother, Ludwig Larsen of Newton; and five sisters, Mrs. Mabel Evans of Searsboro, Mrs. Olga Carpenter of Mount Carmel, Ill., Mrs. Agnes Snodgrass of Santa Monica, Calif., Mrs. Edna Felper of Albia and Mrs. Gurnea (Gladys) Cormicle of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Mrs. Larsen was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Maytag 25-year Club.
He had retired from the Maytag Co. after working there for more than 30 years.
The son of Edward and Carrie Nichol Larsen, he was born Sept. 27, 1908 at Grinnell.
He was married to Margaret J. O'Connor in Lancaster, Mo.
