Mrs. Harselaar Dies Monday; Rites Thursday

Sully – Mrs. Bert (Jenny) Harselaar, 83, a resident of Sully from 1952 until moving to the Heritage Manor in Newton two years ago, died Monday at the Hunter Addition of Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sully Christian Reformed Church.

The Rev. Carl Klompien, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sully Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella will be accepted.

Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements.

Survivors are a son, Alberthus Harsselaar of Lynnville; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond A. (Johnna) Van Wyk of Searsboro, Mrs. Gerald (Elizabeth) Van Hemert of Sully and Mrs. Alvin (Jeanettea) Van Waardhuizen of Beaman; 22 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Kryn (Walterina) Van Zee of Sully and Mrs. Alieda Maassen of Rock Valley.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1952, a daughter, a son, a grandson, 12 sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Harselaar, who also had resided on farms northeast of Lynnville and Sully and south of Newton, was a member of the Sully Christian Reformed Church.

The daughter of Aalbert and Johnna Geenen De Koning, she was born Jan. 12, 1897 at Pella.

She was married Dec. 20, 1917 in Sully. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Des Moines (IA) Register or The Newton (IA) Daily News.
