Lowe, John Wesley – 1944-2013

John Wesley Lowe, 68, of Prairie City, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at his home surrounded by members of his family.
Born August 12, 1944 in Des Moines, he was the son of Wesley Edward and Leona Mae (Kurschinski) Lowe. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Louise (Tucker) Lowe; their three sons, Michael George and wife, Lorna of Ames, Edward Scott and wife Helen of Des Moines, and William Brian of Des Moines; two sisters, Sharon Jones of Des Moines and Carolyn Tucker of Waukee; sister and brother-in-law Connie and James Cole of Kansas City, Mo; as well as four loving grandchildren, Christopher, Kenneth, Tyler, and Rosita, many nieces/nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brother.
John worked as a laborer for the City of Des Moines Parks and Recreation and later as a Supervisor for the City of Des Moines Cemeteries before retiring in 2000. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading history, fishing, and spending time with his family and faithful dog Missy.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
