Janice “Jennie” (Vander Kraan) Sille

PRAIRIE CITY – Janice “Jennie” (Vander Kraan) Sille, 93, of Prairie City, died Saturday, Jan. 8, at Clearview Manor.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City with the Rev. Joel Brummel, pastor of First Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Visitation will be Wednesday after noon at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials in her name will be accepted.

The daughter of William Adrian and Henrietta Izaak Roorda Vander kraan, she was born Aug. 22, 1906, in Prairie City. She was a 1926 graduate of Prairie City High School, attended William Penn College and Iowa State Teachers College.

A lifelong resident of Prairie City, she worked as a teacher and housekeeper and was a member of the First Reformed Church in Prairie City.

Survivors include a son, Donald Leroy Sille of Ventura, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Edna May and Larry Greene of Prairie City; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters and a great-granddaughter. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Mon 10 Jan 2000.
