Bertha Ellen Hodge Crowder, 86, of Integrated Health Services of Jasper County, died of respiratory failure, Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the care facility.

Graveside services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Union Temple Cemetery south of Kirksville, MO. Burial will be in Union Temple Cemetery in rural Kirksville, MO.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Fohn Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO. The Reese Funeral Home in Newton is also helping with arrangements. Memorials to Integrated Health Services of Jasper County will be accepted.

The daughter of Philip S. And Minnie Sutton Klingsmith, she was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Kirksville, MO. She attended rural schools.

A longtime resident of Kirksville, MO, she moved to Newton in 1983 and worked as a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, James Hodge of Newton; a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Dale Squires of Sully; a son-in-law, Sonny Lewis of Columbia, MO; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, a daughter, seven brothers and six sisters. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Des Moines (IA) Register or The Newton (IA) Daily News
