Judith E. Thomas, 75, of Mitchellville died of complications of a stroke Saturday at Mitchell Village Care Center there. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Colfax Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas was born in Newton and had lived in Colfax most of her life before moving to Mitchellville in 1990. She was a retired cook at Colfax Community School.

She is survived by a son, Doug, and a daughter, Debra Pion, both of Colfax; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram.

Friends may call after noon Tuesday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Mitchell Village Care Center Activity Fund. ~ Newspaper unnamed, possibly The Des Moines Register or The Newton (IA) Daily News.
