James G. Munger, 71, died Friday, October 17, 2003. Services will be 2 p.m., Monday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa.

James Gordon Munger

James Gordon Munger, 71, of 200 S. 8th Ave E. died of complications of a stroke Friday, Oct 17, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. At the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The body will be cremated after the service. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted in his name and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Archie R. and Edith (Lust) Munger, he was born Jan. 18, 1932, in Newton. He was a 1950 graduate of Monroe High School. On Jan. 25, 1952, he married Margaret I. “Peggy” Weatherspoon in Newton. He served in the United States Army during the Korean war and was an auto mechanic and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the VFW and AARP. He moved to Jacksonville, Fla in 1976.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, David G. and Sue Munger of Newton and James R. Munger of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother of Newton; and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Ruth Munger of Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his father, wife and a brother, Bobby Munger. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Sun 13 Oct 2003.
