Former Colfax Boy Killed in Wreck

Lyle Smith, 26, service station attendant at Grand Junction, Iowa, with two other men of that city were killed Saturday night when their car was struck by a fast train.

Mr. Smith was a former Colfax boy and was generally known here as “Speck Owens.” He came to Colfax when 5 years of age, following the death of his mother and lived with an aunt, Mrs. Hannah Owens until her death seven years ago when he moved to Ogden, Iowa. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Des Moines Register or The Newton (IA) Daily News.
